I would love to learn how to cook with them and I would love to experience the taste of 'chestnuts roasting on an open fire'.Hotly Spicedhttp://hotlyspiced.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078877172139600813.post-67304942519932069162012-04-16T17:08:55.359+12:002012-04-16T17:08:55.359+12:00Penny, I had forgotten that, so thanks for the rem...Penny, I had forgotten that, so thanks for the reminder. I recall you commenting on making chestnut soup back in November when I was roasting chestnuts to stuff our Thanksgiving turkey using as my grandmother did. It was my first time - and my last. Lots of work, but, as others say, the aroma of chestnuts emanating from the over is so wonderful.lifeonthecutoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14657395265006688388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078877172139600813.post-89719567694772788252012-04-16T10:17:22.715+12:002012-04-16T10:17:22.715+12:00*Ruth, glad you are enjoying them too.

Anything that helps. Chestnut cream mousse sounds delicious. When I was living in Paris I tried creme de marron, but it was very time consuming.

*Max, so you've been in France too, with 'chestnut everything'. You've right though, freshly roasted is best of all. The stir fry combination sounds worth trying.

Thanks for your comments Ruth, Hilary & Max.Juliethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01542985048406828693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078877172139600813.post-59080104442401452262012-04-15T22:27:05.920+12:002012-04-15T22:27:05.920+12:00I think we get our chestnuts a liitle later here d...I think we get our chestnuts a liitle later here down aiuth, but i'll keep my eyes open for them now i know there about. We had chestnut everything when we were in the dordogne a few years ago, bread, cake etc, but i found them quite bland compared to good old roasted, or stir fried with brussel sprouts and bacon xMaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18387407423793099797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078877172139600813.post-75637117991640144602012-04-15T19:49:19.134+12:002012-04-15T19:49:19.134+12:00Hi Juliet - I love adding chestnuts into stuffing ...Hi Juliet - I love adding chestnuts into stuffing for the turkey, and from a tin I'm afraid making it into a chestnut cream mousse ..

But those early days of trying to cook everything .. and chestnuts are not easy - but smell wonderful ..

Enjoy .. cheers HilaryHilary Melton-Butcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17596532480645510678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078877172139600813.post-31348610059479620032012-04-15T19:06:54.166+12:002012-04-15T19:06:54.166+12:00We've been roasting chestnuts too - a wonderfu...We've been roasting chestnuts too - a wonderful autumn treat.Ruth Ghttp://www.realruth.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
