First swim

When you are four years old, your first surf swim of the year is exciting. Especially when the waves are big and foaming and bucking like wild ponies. But when you have a strong daddy to hold on to, you know you are safe, and so you squeal and shriek with pleasure.
A cave looks like a safe place to be,
until you are half way in, and suddenly it's time to go
and look for treasure.
The pohutukawas are full of flower, and the sun is shining. Life is pretty good, really.

I can also remember that my children were so small. That they first became acquainted with the sea.

When the waves are so big than its very exciting for a four year old child. Safe with her father and mother on their side ofcourse.

I'm always searching for beautiful shells, pebbles. And when I find beautiful shells i'm happy as a child.

Sandcastles, I go crazy at the beach.. Wonderful if you have children, being child with your children.

Though I am 44. I have two children. A boy(13) and a girl(10)

Life is pretty good indeed. I love life.

* Diana, it sounds as if we share a love of the sea, and all the treasures that may be found along the shore.
Thank you, and I look forward to being able to visit your blog soon.

The water looks really inviting. I would love a swim on the New Zealand coast. Merry Christmas to you and all your family xx

It is so hot here today Juliet that it makes your surf look very, very inviting.

The Pohutukawas are bursting out here in the heat, just in time for Xmas.

I love those wee blue shells...

Aren't Daddies so special helping little ones take exciting plunges in safety?

Oh, how this reminded me of taking the girls swimming when they were so very little and how brave they were holding their Daddy's hand. It's nice to have the memory come alive with the reading of your post today, Juliet.

* Lynley, it's pretty hot here too. The sea was so refreshing, but now we are all back in town. My father taught us all to swim, and I totally agree about Daddy's being special with those first steps.

* Penny, I'm so glad my post brought a happy memory alive for you.

Thank you Lynley and Penny.

Hi Juliet .. love the stories - you capture the moments so magically .. and love that you're sharing Mira's antics and delight in all things with us ..

Sadly that ball would be flooded across England .. we are drenched and badly damaged .. it's raining again now .. I feel sorry for many ..

Enjoy your downtime of summer ending ... I have to say we could do with some of that warming sun ..

Happy times - Hilary

* Hilary, glad you enjoyed the stories and Mira's antics. The rain came pouring down here just as we were leaving the bach, and is only just starting to ease. My computer died today. I'm getting a new one set up but the date transfer is going on all night and maybe more. Hope to visit again soon.
