Retreat into stillness

The calendar year attempts to impose its agendas of deadlines and completions, yet the seasonal year is opening like a flower, towards the shining light of summer solstice.
And so what better time to retreat for the weekend, to a beautiful place in nature, with beloved friends, who belong to a group that was formed 29 years ago to celebrate our southern seasons.
Together we create sacred space. We draw inwards, into silence, and meditate on the season.
the movements of our lives,
and the presence of love.
Our original families have mostly passed on. But this circle of women endures. It embraces every season, from the depths of darkness to the radiance of the light. To mellow together over time is such a blessing and a gift.
And now I am pondering on new ways to help others create such a group. If you would like to know more, you can click here to leave a message on my website contact form.

It is lovely to think of the world opening up to us at this time of the year. This is especially true for us with the new little one who has arrived into our extended family. One week old today. :)

I always enjoy reading about your circle of women and retreats, Juliet. Such a long-lasting friendship and your times of renewal so fitting as they seasons change. I am also sitting her enjoying the greenery and, oh, those nasturtiums. Beautiful.

* Hilary, you put it so beautifully, enjoying 'in quietness the turn of the seasons'. Yes, I feel very blessed.

* Penny, nasturtiums are flowering everywhere, and seemed perfect to express the joy of this retreat. Long-lasting friendship, you know so well about this too.

Thank you Hilary and Penny, always good to see you.

How lovely to have a group of friends that's been together for so long. You must have shared so much together over that time and I believe groups like this give us so much strength when we have times where we're facing dark moments. Those corn flowers are stunning xx

Charlie, you are so right. I have drawn a lot of strength from this group during dark times, and lots of laughter and joy also. Thank you.

That is a really special connection you have there with such long term friends. I learned this year to meditate and it was the biggest present of this year. When there is something stressful going on I find time to meditate and it falls off me(probably not proper english lol)

Marja, how wonderful that you've given yourself the gift of meditation. I can't imagine life without it after 30 years of this practice! I hope you find it a continued support.
